Our mission is protect the quality of life and improve the well being of  llamas/alpacas through prevention, education, intervention, placement, and life-long care.

Southwest Llama Rescue, Inc (SWLR) is a group of volunteers dedicated to llama & alpaca rescue. We operate in the states west of the Mississippi River and all the way to the West Coast. We are affliated with llama/alpaca rescue groups throughout the United States.

SWLR volunteers have over 20 years experience rescuing and rehoming thousands of llamas/alpacas. They also help owners throughout the Southwest region surrender their beloved animals when they've had a dramatic life change that requires support. On occasion, SWLR has adopted out their rescued llamas to families and owners ready for the responsibility and proper care of these beautiful animals. Finally, SWLR volunteers have often provided owners a wonderful place of respite for their older llamas/alpacas.
